Most of what we do is hardware you can drop, soak and leave running in a field — rugged cameras, trackers and connectivity built to survive the real world. But a lot of the people who use that kind of kit share one exposure that no single device fixes: they work alone, often in remote places, and if something goes wrong there's nobody there to notice. Vygard is our answer to that. It's a family of lone-worker safety apps, each built for a specific industry, and the first three are now live on the App Store.
Three apps, three very different jobs
Vygard Forestry pairs an iPhone with an Apple Watch to detect a chainsaw kickback automatically and fire an SOS when the operator can't — with pre-shift checks, timed check-ins and a what3words location built around FISA 304 and BS 8484. Vygard Elder Care brings automatic fall and no-movement detection, one-tap SOS and daily welfare check-ins to telecare and independent-living providers, deliberately camera-free to protect dignity at home. And Vygard Rescue gives mountain-rescue, coastguard and swift-water controllers a live map of every responder plus one-tap SOS, for the moment a rescuer becomes the casualty.

One safety platform underneath
Under each branded app is the same core: one-tap and automatic SOS, fall and man-down detection using the phone's own motion sensors, live location with cell-tower fallback where GPS is thin, timed check-ins that escalate when they're missed, and a tamper-evident audit log for compliance. What changes per sector is the workflow on top — the chainsaw checks, the welfare visits, the responder map — so each team gets an app that speaks its own language rather than a generic panic button.
Why a hardware company built a safety app
The same judgement that goes into specifying rugged field hardware — knowing how kit actually behaves at the edge of coverage, in the cold, in the wet, in the hands of someone wearing gloves — is exactly what lone-worker safety software needs and usually lacks. Vygard is that field experience turned into software. More sectors are on the way; these three are the start.
