Vygard: lone-worker safety built for the sectors that need it most

An estimated six to eight million people in the UK work alone for some or all of their day — forestry teams, agricultural contractors, utility engineers, security officers, housing officers and countless others. Employers have a clear legal duty of care towards them under the Health and Safety at Work Act, and the practical question every safety manager faces is the same: if something happens to someone working alone, how quickly would anyone know?

What Vygard does

Vygard is the group's lone-worker safety platform. Workers check in from a mobile app; missed check-ins, panic activations and man-down events trigger a structured escalation — the right people notified, in the right order, with the worker's last known location. Managers get a live dashboard of who is working alone right now, and an audit trail that stands up when the HSE or an insurer asks how lone working is controlled.

Built by sector, not one-size-fits-all

A forestry crew with a chainsaw, no phone signal and a two-hour extraction is not the same risk as a housing officer on a home visit. Vygard is being rolled out as a family of sector-specific apps — forestry first, with agriculture, security, utilities and field services following — so the check-in cadences, escalation rules and terminology match the actual work rather than forcing every industry through a generic app.

Why it sits in the group

Lone-worker safety overlaps everything Take 2 already supplies: rugged devices that survive the environments where people work alone, connectivity for sites with no signal, and monitoring platforms that turn events into action. Vygard adds the software layer, and the combination means one supplier for the device, the SIM and the safety system.
